Meet Billy Pett, he is Carbon Saving Group’s first Installation Engineer to complete the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Billy has spent the last four years working within our installation team whilst studying for his apprenticeship at Petroc College. Managing Director, Thomas Read comments, ‘I believe it is important to invest in your team. Billy is a fantastic example of what can be achieved whilst learning on the job, we are extremely proud of him’.

Billy began his apprenticeship in 2017 because he felt that the blended learning aspect would better suit him. The vocational skills are taught at college ready to be applied in the workplace under the supervision of his colleagues. Over the four year duration of his apprenticeship Billy has learnt how to plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems, making him an invaluable member of the team.

Billy explained that he has ‘always found it easier learning ‘hands on’ compared to being sat in a classroom all day’ and has really enjoyed developing new skills. Throughout his apprenticeship Billy has been able to experience a wide variety of installations which has helped him develop a diverse skill set ready for the future.

Congratulations Billy! We are super proud of your achievements.
