Government announces three month extension to ECO3 - Energy Company Obligation scheme. Read More
In a recent government response document drawn up by the department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), they announced a three month extension to the previous ECO (Energy Company Obligation) scheme. The decision follows a consultation period where many suppliers that deliver the energy saving measures to homes across the country agreed that there should be an interim transitioning period from ECO3 to ECO4.
The government have agreed to a 10% carry-over which means we can continue to install first time central heating, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation into homes that qualify for the original ECO3 criteria. First time central heating is aimed at homes that are either not on mains gas or are operating electric or oil heating systems. If you are living in an area without a gas connection, we may still be able to arrange a free connection through Wales & West. The only caveat is that gas must be connected to the property before the end of June 2022. So to be in with a chance of having gas central heating installed for free* we would urge you to apply sooner than later.
The purpose of the Energy Company Obligation scheme is to hold the energy companies responsible for improving the energy efficiency of homes across the UK. Ensuring home owners and tenants have access to energy saving measures that will help to combat fuel poverty is critical as energy prices are set to soar further before the end of the summer. By simply installing loft insulation to a typical property you could cut your annual energy bills by £395** as over 25% of household heat literally goes through the roof. If your property doesn’t already have cavity wall insulation (you can check if it has in your EPC), you could save up to £225** a year from your energy bill by simply lowering the amount of heat escaping through your walls. We use Thermabead as it is injected into the void, causing less drill holes to your property and less disruption. It is also fire retardant and BBA approved.
